Have you ever considered how to use these products or how to use them? In this blog, we take a look at how topicals, tinctures, and transdermals at GreenLabs are beneficial for pain relief and more!

Topicals

Topicals are cannabis-infused products that are absorbed through the skin for localized relief of pain, soreness, and inflammation. There are different kinds of topicals like lotions, balms, salves, oils, and transdermals patches. Cannabis-infused lotions, oils, and balms offer relief by binding to cannabinoid receptors. These receptors are found throughout the body and are activated either by the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids or by cannabis compounds known as cannabinoids (e.g., THC, CBD).

Even if a topical contains active THC, it will not include that intense “high” you would get from smoking or ingesting cannabis. With most topicals, cannabinoids can’t breach the bloodstream; they only penetrate for localized relief. Applying a topical that contains CBD can help to alleviate skin problems, as well as, pain and inflammation in the area. Because CBD penetrates the dermal and subdermal skin layers, reaching further than just the surface of the skin. Transdermal patches, however, do deliver cannabinoids to the bloodstream.

Transdermals

A transdermal patch is a topical because it’s a cannabis-infused product that you put on your skin. As mentioned above, the only difference with transdermal patches is that you add a patch to a veinous part of your body, like a wrist, because patches release directly into the bloodstream. That’s why patches are unique methods of cannabis consumption. You don’t need to inhale or ingest to experience its effects!

By simply applying a patch to a veiny area of the body, the cannabinoids enter the bloodstream for an effective yet long-lasting response. Patches are typically available in various isolated cannabinoids, such as THC, CBD, CBD, THCA, and split ratios such as 1:1 CBD: THC.

Tinctures

Tinctures are cannabis extracts processed into essential oils and are available in a wide variety of flavors. Tinctures typically dosed under the tongue, while some patients like to also add them to their beverages such as teas, coffee, water, and so forth.

Patients like using tinctures because they are discrete, have fast onset effects, and are easy to dose. Consuming a tincture allows you to avoid the smell while enjoying all the benefits of cannabis. As mentioned before, the effects from cannabis tinctures set in rather quickly. In addition, tinctures are the perfect product for finding your preferred dose because of the eyedropper.

What Symptoms Can Cannabis Topicals treat?

Topicals are most popularly chosen for localized pain relief, muscle soreness, tension, and inflammation. More evidence and research are beginning to show a widening spectrum of potential benefits of topicals such as treating acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, skin blemishes, shingles, and more. Furthermore, there are reportings from women that use cannabis that said the use of transdermal patches is beneficial to help treat symptoms such as cramps and headaches during their pre-menstrual cycle.

A THC-rich rub infused with cooling menthol is a perfect way to wind down from a brutal workout, hike, or so forth. For intense localized pain, you may try warming up the balm that combines the deep painkilling properties of cannabinoids with a tingling, soothing sensation.

Keep in mind that different topicals have different benefits to offer. It all depends on the way they are process and the ingredients that are used to make them. Some patients use various topicals for different ailments. If you are someone that struggles with pain, inflammation, and more, topicals may be worth exploring at GreenLabs. You’d be surprised by the difference that one special product makes!
